Basil M. Hantash, MD, PhD, MBA (Founder, Chairman, & CEO)
Dr. Hantash has been intimately involved in all aspects of the start-up process, helping secure
financing and providing guidance on technology, regulatory, intellectual property, and business
development strategies. He has over 10 years of operational experience in the life sciences and
has advised medical device firms such as Reliant Technologies, eMed, Primaeva Medical, Allux
Medical, and Apsara, as well as specialty pharmaceutical companies such as ZARS Pharma, Biopharma
Scientific, JMEC, and Revercel LLC. His track record includes the successful launch of across
multiple disciplines including diagnostics, small molecule drugs, medical devices, biomaterials,
nanotechnology, cosmeceuticals, and nutraceuticals. Dr. Hantash has performed over a dozen clinical
trials, has more than 40 issued and pending patents, and has published over 75 scientific
peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, and chapters. In aggregate, his efforts have resulted in
the creation of over $400M of shareholder value.
Dr. Hantash has advised over 20 investment and venture capital firms providing due diligence on
medtech and biotech companies across multiple healthcare sectors. He currently serves as Vice Chairman
and Treasurer of Envy Medical as well as Chairman of the Elixir Institute of Regenerative Medicine,
one of the world's first non-profit, extra-academic, translational research institutes focused
exclusively on stem cells.
Sam Jadallah (Director)
Sam brings extensive operating, management and investing experience, previously a Partner at
Mohr Davidow Ventures, where he holds board seats with Adapt Technologies; Done Right!; InnerWorkings;
Medio Systems; and Tiny Pictures. Prior to MDV, Sam was managing director of Internet Capital
Group where he led the west coast and Asian operations and served as a member of ICG's senior
management team and acquisition committee. Before that Sam spent 12 years at Microsoft where
he was a corporate officer and Vice President, Worldwide Enterprise Sales. Sam's primary focus
was leading the SMB and Channel efforts for Microsoft, worldwide. During his time, he led building
the Microsoft Certified, Microsoft Open License, Microsoft TechNet and Microsoft Premier Support
brands. Working directly for Steve Ballmer, he served as general manager of Worldwide Business
Strategy and led Microsoft.com during its early growth years. Sam serves on the board of trustees
for his alma mater, Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH.
Curtis Mo, JD (Corporate Counsel & Secretary)
Mr. Mo is currently a partner at DLA Piper, and is recognized as a leading corporate and securities
lawyer in Silicon Valley. He has represented emerging growth companies, major public companies,
investment banks, venture capital funds and private equity funds in hundreds of public offerings,
mergers and acquisitions, buyouts, venture capital financings and other complex transactions.
He serves a number of community organizations, including as a member of the board of directors
of the influential Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network and was featured in American Lawyer as
a "Dealmaker of the Year" for 2003. Mr. Mo was the Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar at Columbia Law
School and received his BA at Columbia University.
